Amir Obe- Hennessy Breathe
Along with the name revamp, Amir Obe, formerly Phreshy Duzit, is going in a markedly different direction with his new project Detrooklyn. It’s a good thing too, he’s definitely experimenting a bit more with his sound and his vocals. For his latest leak, “Hennessy Breathe,” Amir keeps the same feeling of his past leaks, with a slow pace, synths, and a slight r’n’b influence. It’s not a song you’ll get hype too, rather it’s a song you’ll come down too.
Ken Randle- Be My Stripper Feat. Kirko Bangz
Ken Randle isn’t someone we’re too familiar with, but “Be My Stripper” seems like a good place to start. With Kirko Bangz adding a verse, the record is a veritable stripper anthem for your bae even if she’s not actually stripper. Ken Randle displays his vocal reach alongside guitar riffs, giving the track an old school feel. It’ll appear on his upcoming EP Sex In A Slab, so keep an eye out for more from Ken (or, if you need more right now, you can check out this).
ZelooperZ- Thunda Cats Feat. Danny Brown
Given the fact that ZelooperZ is a Danny Brown affiliate, and a member of the same crew, you could probably guess he’d be a bit of a “weirdo.” In the best way possible, of course, just like Danny. The two Detroit natives connected on ZelooperZ's new mixtape HELP, with the minimal bass line-driven cut “Thunda Cats.” Each rapper offers up bars about their favorite thots.
Murs & ¡MAYDAY! - My Own Parade
Murs has teamed up with his new Strange Music labelmates, ¡MAYDAY!, for a collaborative effort combining their names, appropriately enough, into ¡MURSDAY!. This past week we received one of the ¡MURSDAY! cuts, “My Own Parade,” which had the rappers going back and forth over an almost ska-like instrumental, that contains different horn instruments.
Boaz- Rapness Monster (Prod. By Larry Fisherman)
Here goes an overlooked cut from Rostrum Records’ own Boaz. The rising rapper received foreboding production from Mac Miller aka Larry Fisherman, as is only necessary for a record called the “Rappness Monster,” a riff off the Lochness monster. Boaz compares his rap skills to the monstrosity of the underwater creature, detailing his living habits.
HNHH's "Underrated Audio" puts you on not-too-mainstream music you might have missed from the past week.
Underrated Audio aims to provide you with some dope looks from the last seven days, that flew under most peoples' radars. While they may have received front-page placement on HNHH, they didn't get as many views as they deserve, so we shine a little more light on them right here.
For this week's selection of records, we've got five drops, two of which happen to both belong to Detroit rappers, Amir Obe and ZelooperZ respectively. There's also overlooked music from West Coast OG Murs, new Rostrum Records' signee Boaz and more.
