Lil Herb- Koolin
Lil Herb’s been coolin’ while he waits for his debut effort, Welcome To Fazoland, to drop. He’s coolin’ so much he decided to make a song about. With production that sounds like impending doom, the rapper spits straight bars about his Chiraq experiences (which he refers to as a hell hole), as he grinds to get his rap career off the ground. He’s definitely about to do just that, as there is plenty of anticipation for Welcome To Fazoland. We saw Lil Bibby gain notable buzz after Free Crack, so perhaps the same will happen for Herbo.
Onyx- WAKEDAFUCUP Feat. Dope D.O.D
Onyx have been slowing returning to the rap game after quite a lengthy hiatus. After delivering a leak “We Get Live” awhile back, this past week they made a more official return with the release of their new single off their forthcoming album WAKEDAFUCUP. As the track title indicates, they’re trying to wake you up—with hard-hitting and extra grimy production from Snowgoons (who are producing the entire album). In addition to the tough beat, each rapper displays his lyrical ability while maintaining their street appeal.
We’re not too familiar with Harry Fraud’s Surf School rapper Adrian Lau at this point, as the focus of the imprint was first on Eddie B. However things seemed to have now turned to Lau, who has an upcoming mixtape titled Projection, slated for release on February 24th. The tape will be entirely produced by Harry Fraud, which is a definite selling point, as it was for this track too. The production definitely kicks things up a notch for this record, with a beat that incorporates under-water noises and a vintage sample, making for a very cool mix. The addition of Riff Raff is an interesting choice, and we’re definitely not mad at it. He handles the beat well.
Kirk Knight- Pussy Facx
Kirk Knight was on his solo tip with a Pro Era Week record all to himself. While most the rappers dropped crew cuts throughout the last seven days, Kirk Knight handled “Pussy Facx” all by himself, and he did it well. Kirk Knight tells a girl that despite the fact that he doesn’t trust her, she’s still his “type of bitch.” The production, which comes from the rapper himself, is jingly and wavey as Knight’s voice echoes through out.
Flatbush Zombies- Lit
Flatbush Zombies came through with a new joint this past week, and despite getting under 10k views on HNHH, it was fire. The record had a trumpets blaring in the background giving it a somewhat jazzy feel, as the rappers slurred their words together while declaring they’re lit. It’s like trippy jazz. With lines like, “I’m lit / Young, black and braggadocios / I’m fuckin’ focused / Talking shit cause you need to notice”, we definitely took notice. We’re anticipating their new EP It’s All A Matter Of Perspective, on which this single will live.
HNHH's "Underrated Audio" puts you on not-too-mainstream music you might have missed from the past week.
Underrated Audio aims to provide you with some dope looks from the last seven days, that flew under most peoples' radars. While they may have received front-page placement on HNHH, they didn't get as many views as they deserve, so we shine a little more light on them right here.
