The other day Thelonious Martin previewed a new joint which he said was "arranged" by Kanye West, "You Girls." Today we find the producer on the boards for a new release from Chiraq's Tree.

Tree, who is known for his soul trap style, gets a very soulful instrumental from Thelonious which was actually recorded back in 2012. Closed Sessions can be thanked for bringing these two together, as they say, "Back in the summer of 2012, we opened the b-room studio to Thelonious Martin and gave him free reign to bang out beats and work with a rotating cast of stellar Chicago emcees.  This was also the summer of Sunday School, Tree’s statement making mixtape.  On one summer day, Tree swung through the studio to bring his SoulTrap sound to Thelonious Martin’s soulful & dusty production.  The two hit it off quick. Even though we’ve released a lot of songs with Thelonious and Tree respectively, for some reason we just never got around to releasing this song… Until now."

We're glad it's finally surfaced because it's illy. Cop Tree's latest EP, THE @MCTREEG EP, here. You can catch Tree live at the Knitting Factory in NYC on February 12.

Quotable Lyrics

"Okay so now you wanna leave now / Well put them purses and them keys down / Put them watches, them little boxes with the bling down / Them chiffon scarf shits, them lil' rings down / Them student loans, shit I want back / All that shit I gave your mother bitch I want that"

"She says I'm a man whore / I guess it stands for, I want my cake and yours"
