Even on the very rare occasion that Drake doesn't show up in our top ten tracks of the week, his presence is still felt. In this case, he's directly responsible for three separate tracks in the top ten, whether that entails remixes or disses aimed at him. Even though the two guys behind those tracks are looking to feud with, rather than big-up, Drizzy, they're keeping his name in the conversation even as VIEWS loses its number one spot and no new loosies or features hit the internet. This is what being the biggest rapper in the world looks like: total domination, even when you're not lifting a finger.
Dropping out of our top ten this week are eight tracks from our last batch, with Future's "100it Racks" barely missing out on a third appearance by slipping to #11. The biggest free falls were Kid Cudi's "Goodbye," which dropped 52 spots from #10 to #62, and G-Eazy and Quavo's "In The Meantime," which went from #7 to #50. New arrivals that were kept out of the top ten by a hair were Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa's "Situations" (#12), Rich Homie Quan's "Smile (#13), and Nipsey Hussle's "One Hunnit" (#14).
10. Chris Brown - My Friend
After the twin tragedies of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile's deaths at the hands of police last week, Chris Brown dropped this ballad dedicated to "anybody dealing with injustice or struggle in their lives." With lyrics that could speak to any form of loss, Breezy hit the nail on the head during a week that was beyond troubling. "My Friend" debuts at #10.
9. DJ Khaled Feat. Future & Jay Z - I Got The Keys
DJ Khaled's second Major Key single fell off a bit quicker than "For Free," but "I Got The Keys" still managed to cling onto the top ten for its second week out. This is also the first time in recent memory that Jay Z's made two appearances in a weekly top ten. "I Got The Keys" slips from #1 to #9 in week two.
8. Gucci Mane Feat. Tupac - On Me
The three stages of reactions to "On Me": 1) "He got a Pac verse?!" 2) "Oh damn, it's just a clip from "Fuck Em All." 3) "Still fire though." This one won't appear on Wop's upcoming album Everybody Looking, but it's certainly succeeded in escalating the hype even more. "On Me" debuts at #8.
7. Joe Budden - Making A Murderer (Drake Diss) (Prod. By Araab Muzik)
If you release a Drake diss track, he may not respond, but it's almost guaranteed to attract way more attention than the rest of your music. Such is the case of Joe Budden, who still hasn't caused Drizzy to budge (not for lack of trying though), but whose two new diss tracks have racked up more plays than the rest of the tracks on his Soundcloud combined. "Making A Murderer" was the first, and in its second week, it drops from #2 to #7.
6. Jazz Cartier - Lil Wayne (Prod. By Lantz)
Congrats to Jazz Cartier on his first track to land in our Top Ten. Unfortunately, the only reason that seems to have happened is because he named the song after his favorite rapper, but fortunately, it's dope. "Lil Wayne" debuted late last week, and thusly rose 80 spots in its second week out, to end up at #6.
5. Tory Lanez - Controlla (Remix)
The second of our three Drake-related tracks comes from Tory Lanez, another guy who's come at Drizzy a few times and gotten little other than a subliminal as a response. He released two remixes for this past Fargo Friday, and similar to the bump in popularity Drake gave to Joe Budden, this "Controlla" one has proven much more popular than his "I Got The Keys" remix. Lanez's "Controlla" remix debuts at #5.
4. Jay Z - Spiritual
Chris Brown wasn't the only one commemorating the lives of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile via song-- those unjustified killings also prompted Jay Z to release his first solo cut in several years. "Spiritual" wasn't a huge hit with the HNHH audience-- it's currently sitting at a 58% approval rating-- but you've gotta give Jay props for speaking up. "Spiritual" debuts at #4.
3. ScHoolboy Q Feat. Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul & Jay Rock - THat Part (Black Hippy Remix)
Arguably, the biggest thing Schoolboy Q released last week wasn't even included on his great album Blank Face. This remix of the originally Kanye West-featuring single "THat Part" marks the first time that TDE's Black Hippy posse have gotten together since "Vice City" on Jay Rock's album last year, and it doesn't disappoint. This "THat Part" remix debuts at #3.
2. PartyNextDoor & Jeremih Feat. Lil Wayne - Like Dat (Prod. By Murda Beatz)
While the CDQ of this track (below) from PND and Jeremih's upcoming collab project dropped a few days ago, the OG radio-rip version was the one that racked up far more initial views. "Like Dat" completely lives up to the promise of its three high profile stars, with Party and Jeremih sounding like they've been intertwining their vocals for years and Weezy murdering his verse. This dropped last Saurday, so it's up 52 spots in its second week out, landing all the way up at #2.
1. Joe Budden - Wake (Drake Diss) (Prod. By Araab Muzik)
"Making A Murderer" landed at #2 last week, and "Wake" took Budden's Drake-combatting wave even higher. I'd like to think that's all because of the Eastbound & Down sample that kicks things off, but if we're being honest, it's probably more due to the fact that Drake and DJ Khaled didn't release any tracks this week. "Wake" debuts at #1.
