15. Rae Sremmurd - No Type
14. Bobby Shmurda - Bobby Bitch
12. Eminem - Guts Over Fear feat. Sia
10. Run The Jewels ft. Zach De La Rocha - Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)
Zach. De. La. Rocha.
Oh, that wasn't enough of an explanation? Fine, Run The Jewels 2 is the follow up to Killer Mike and El-P's critically-acclaimed collaborative debut, and it is shaping up to be a true gem. It was announced earlier this year that the former Rage Against The Machine frontman was working with the pair on their LP, and ever since we've been craving a new verse from the reclusive lyricist, and he didn't disappoint. We can't wait for RTJ2 (October 28th) and we'll also take this opportunity to beg ZDLR for a comeback project. Like, we're really begging Zach. The game needs you.
PS- If you don't fuck with RTJ, here's how much it will cost you to make them quit.
9. Yo Gotti - Errrbody
Yo Gotti's had a great couple comeback years, with his 2013 album I Am making a lot of impact just last winter. This year, he looks to follow up that success with The Art Of The Hustle, which is tentatively slated to drop November 11th (fingers crossed). The first single from the upcoming set is "Errrbody", a wildly catchy record about all the pretenders out there giving the real hustlers a bad name. You can get the single on iTunes right now. Recently, the remix of "Errybody" featuring Ludacris and Lil Wayne gave the cut an extra push and brought it to the attention of those who might have missed the original.
8. Yelawolf - Til It's Gone
Although he sometimes get's overshadowed by his Shady Records brethren Slaughterhouse and Eminem himself, Yelawolf has done nothing but improve and impress since joining the legendary label. His debut album Radioactive was really, really good and showed that all Yelawolf needed after his mixtape days was a little guidance to take his talents to the next level. Well now we're waiting on his sophomore set Love Story, and we couldn't be more excited after hearing this infectious-yet-different song "Till It's Gone" complete with haunting horns and a slick Southern guitar loop. The track premiered on the FX show "Sons Of Anarchy" and felt right at home with the infamous biker gang.
7. Logic - Buried Alive
You might still be sleeping on Logic if you disagree with this high ranking. If that's the case, peep our list of reasons to stop doing just that. Once you've done that, you'll appreciate this phenomenal Dun Deal-produced cut. The second single released from Logic's upcoming Under Pressure LP after the title track, this song showcases his incredible lyrical prowess as well as an ability to craft an amazingly catchy song. The album drops on October 21st, make sure you get that.
Tip's highly anticipated, and oft-delayed, upcoming album Paperwork is finally dropping on October 21st. Skateboard P not only produced this fire title track for the album, but executive produced the entire project, so you know we're in for a classic. The song is a soulful throwback with a finger-snapping beat and catchy melody from Williams to accompany strong verses from the Rubberband Man himself. You can pre-order the album right now on iTunes and get this single right away.
5. Kendrick Lamar - i
The only music we've heard so far from probably the most highly anticipated hip-hop album of the last decade, "i" serves as our only taste of what Kendrick's new set will sound like. As usual, he bucks industry trends and makes something so different and unique that it's no wonder why he's dominating, even after his last solo music came out 2 years ago. He managed to impress with his lead single even with sky-high expectations, giving us something positive and uplifting in these dark times, showing why he's the genre's guiding light.
4. Big K.R.I.T. - Cadillactica
Krizzle's album Cadillactica doesn't drop until November 11th (pre-order here) but you can hear the fuego title track now, and it's just as great as the previous two album cuts we've heard so far, "Mt. Olympus" and "Pay Attention". The album is shaping up to be a real shining moment for the Mississippi emcee, who's major label debut left a little bit to be desired compared to his stellar mixtape catalog (we'll call it WKS, Wiz Khalifa Syndrome).
3. Joey Bada$$ - Christ Conscious
We've been waiting on Joey's B4.DA.$$ album for quite a while, and may still have a ways to go as it still doesn't have an official release date. That hasn't stopped the old-souled spitter from giving us a fiery new second single from the project in "Christ Conscious", following "Big Dusty" which dropped towards the end of Summer. You can catch Joey and his Pro Era comrades out on tour right now, and make sure you cop that album when it finally does hit the shelves, it's sure to be a classic. RIP Cap Steezy.
Though we can smell an album delay a mile away, Tha Carter V should still drop by the end of 2k14, and "Believe Me" was one of the hottest songs of the year by a long shot. We've also gotten "Krazy", "D'Usse" and "Grindin", which also features Young Money label-mate Drizzy, but this song really symbolized a welcome shift with Weezy. For the past couple years, he had noticeably slipped and this record felt like Wayne in his prime, really getting people excited for this upcoming album. After a successful tour and 3 hot singles, we very well may be entering Weezy SZN.
1. A$AP Rocky - Multiply
After A$AP Yams told us they were scrapping the new Mob album, we were told they'd make it up to us by dropping a new album from Flacko and we could expect a single very soon. Only a few days later we got the monster visuals to said single, called "Multiply", which featured an intro from Juicy J and probably qualifies as the most high-profile diss track on a clothing line ever, new territory for the fashion killa (or, "fashionable killa", as he'd prefer to be called). We're not sure exactly when the as-yet-untitled album will drop, only that it will hit shelves sometime in the Fall according to Yams. We can't wait.
Before the Hip-Hop Awards show airs tonight, BET has shared the winners of all 18 categories. Drake, DJ Mustard, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and YG are among the winners.
With so much great music already out this year, it's hard to think this year could get any better. But we still have new albums coming from the likes of T.I., Logic, Big K.R.I.T., and Kendrick Lamar, so it will get better, way better. One of the best parts about waiting for a new album is hearing what songs the artist picks from the project to tease us with. It's almost like getting some bomb calamari while waiting for that mean steak you ordered at a restaurant, just the beginning of what's sure to be an awesome experience.
Today we'll countdown through the 10 hottest singles from upcoming retail projects, either full LPs or commercially released EPs, plus a bunch that just missed the cut. No remixes, no mixtape cuts, we're strictly here for the real deal singles from albums we can't wait to get our hands on.
