Tidal users who were on the free trial woke up to a nice surprise today.

Tidal users who either chose to let their trial renew or just forgot to cancel were greeted with a pleasant surprise today. After news broke that Kanye West had made updates to multiple songs on The Life of Pablo, many people regretted canceling their free trial. Tidal cleverly makes this FOMO-effect even worse by rewarding people who stuck around.

The upstart streaming service is clearly aware of the fact that a very large number of their users only joined because of Kanye West’s exclusive deal with Tidal. They specifically cite “the new version of ‘Wolves’ and the new song ‘Fade’” as reasons for the extension. Users will get an additional 30 days to listen to music before they really, actually have to start paying.

Anyone out there find themselves surprisingly rewarded for not canceling the Tidal subscription they grabbed for the TLOP release?
