The Weeknd has certainly had an eventful last 12 months, and his star is only continuing to rise.

The Starboy artist graces the cover of the special issue of Forbes magazine that is focused on streaming revenue and how it's changing the economy of music. The Weeknd shared a photo of the cover on his personal Instagram page, captioning it with, "Homeless to Forbes List."

The contents of the accompanying article are interesting to say the least. The Weeknd recognizes that, to be a successful artist in today's streaming-dominated consumption climate, you have to embrace the fact that the real money is made while touring. That's why he supposedly parlayed his 5.5 billion streams over the past two years into a $75 million tour advance.

"I really wanted people who had no idea who I was to hear my project," he said. "You don't do that by asking for money [...] We live in a world where artists don't really make the money off the music like we did in the Golden Age. It's not really coming in until you hit the stage."
