The Walking Dead made the leap from being a comic-book to becoming a tv series in 2010. The show has almost caught up with the storyline in the comics, which centers around the life of Rick Grimes in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with zombies. The actor who plays Rick Grimes, Andrew Lincoln, has revealed that this season will be his last on the show after serving as the main character for nine seasons. The Walking Dead's rating has been falling for a few seasons now, but it is still one of the most watched shows on television. A spin-off series called Fear The Walking Dead premiered in 2015, and has steadily gotten better. The first season saw ratings drop after each episode, and Fear ended with half the viewers it began with.

By its third season, Fear finally matured to a level that puts it on par with The Walking Dead. Still, the show's creators want to expand even further. On the WTF podcast with Marc Maron in 2015, Walking Dead creator Rob Kirkman stated, "We’re doing [Fear the Walking Dead], and I’m sure that, if it does well, we’ll do The Walking Dead: China eventually. [And then] The Walking Dead: SVU.” According to UPROXXThe Walking Dead's Chief Content Editor Scott Gimple revealed at this year's San Diego Comic-Con that, “There’s a lot of stuff that’s cooking in the garage right now."

"We’re working on all sorts of things, and as the months go on, we’re going to have a lot more to say about it," he continued. He also went on to hint at more crossovers between the two shows that are currently on air. “You never know who might pop up on Fear the Walking Dead, and that includes not only The Walking Dead [characters] but even potentially people from the past of Fear the Walking Dead. You never know.”
