The Roots were scheduled to perform with Ludacris, Rapsody, Jesse Reyes last night in a special showcase at SXSW. The Bud Light x The Roots SXSW Jam was cancelled after bomb threats were allegedly called in. The announcement is shrouded in ambiguity, and with good reason, there's no need to cause panic in a mob of thousands. "Security Issues" were taken into consideration on the night, the rest of the program is expected to go on without a hitch. The following statement was issued by the event sponsors:

“Due to a security concern, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s Bud Light x The Roots SXSW Jam. After working proactively with SXSW, the Austin Police Department, and other authorities, Bud Light believes this is the best course of action to ensure the safety of our guests, staff, and artists, and appreciate your understanding. We are truly sorry to have to cancel the event, but we felt it was necessary to take all safety precautions,”

On his Instagram storyboard, Questlove expressed a sigh of regret. “Welp. It’s 2018. Show cancelled. These are the times we now live in.” Unfortunately, we live in an age where freedom and security are not mutually exclusive.
