Gucci and Dapper Dan didn't necessarily have a smooth start. Dapper once got accused of stealing Gucci's logo and then the fashion house was accused of grabbing Dapper's designs and using them on their runway. Instead of both parties retaliating, they've decided to make peace and come together on a collection since they both so clearly like each other's style.
“Everyone paid homage to Dapper Dan, but no one ever paid him,” Dapper Dan said when the collab was first announced. “The people have spoken and Gucci has listened. Nothing has been more significant in the Harlem cultural scene than Alessandro and Gucci coming to Harlem and partnering with Dapper Dan."
