The Game Revamps Nas' Subliminal 50 Cent Diss For New Mixtape, "I Have Eight Versions Of The Song"
Black Wall Street associate DJ Skee recently revealed that Game's "Street Runners" Nas collaboration, which send a subtle diss 50 Cent's way, was recorded over four years ago.
According to Skee, the Brake Lights track had been kept under wraps.
Included on the tape is "Street Riders," on which guest MC Nas references Pharrell Williams by name and throws some subliminals at 50 Cent. "I showed n---as their first Bentley/ How the f--- I window shop?" he raps. "We've actually had it done forever," Skee said. "It was actually supposed to be on the Doctor's Advocate album. It didn't make it for one reason or another. There's been a bunch of different reincarnations of the song. ... I actually have eight different versions of the song. Game, he went back in. He said, 'It's time to do it.' Cool & Dre did the beat. So we was like, 'Let's throw it on the mixtape. It's probably never going to come out other than that.' I played a snippet of it on the radio years ago, and fans have been going crazy since then. We threw that on. Game did two new verses. He wanted to make it more relevant for today. You have a crazy Nas verse. Akon kills the hook. It's one of the craziest, darkest Cool & Dre beats. It's one of my favorite Game records ever. So it's finally out, Brake Lights, it's official." Nas and 50 previously had a rap beef in the early 2000's.
"You know what me and Nas we was cool we used to be good," Fif said in a 2005 interview. "I didn't understand his actions. The first thing that started feeling a little off with him was the Jennifer Lopez sh*t. I had done a record on the Jennifer Lopez album right and this after I got shot this is the first thing I'm doing trying to come back out. Irv [Gotti] was running around calling everybody and saying don't do business with these guys you do business with him we are not f*cking with you. At the time they were selling records so people weigh there value by what you can do for them and they were leaning towards Irv and them and they actually took me off the record and put Nas on the record cause she was on Columbia and Nas is on Columbia."
