Up-and-coming talent t-fLyy is a driven producer and performer with a unique musical point of view. By 24, he has accomplished a rare feat. Not only has he gained acclaim for his live performances in his hometown of Rockford, Ill. and in the Chicago area but, he also serves as Co-CEO of his own record label. t-fLyy and his older brothers, Swisha Sweet King (president of the label, as well as artist) and Wood $ (founder/co-CEO) established Illegal World Entertainment in 1997. When the album failed to meet his expectations, t-fLyy set his sites on college. He attended Full Sail University in Winter Park, Fla., where he initially majored in film. His rationale was that he already had all the education he needed in music production. When he finally switched to music recording, he was humbled by his realization that his assumption had been wrong. “It turns out, I didn’t know music at all.” He spent the next year learning about sound engineering, which to him, felt like “learning a new language.” He most recently released an exclusive Internet EP called fLyy Tyme. The EP caught the attention of DJ Smallz of the Southern Smoke mixtape series. t-fLyy’s project with Smallz is set for release in 2011. t-fLyy demonstrates that fighting spirit through his strict work ethic. No matter the circumstances, he continues to persevere to make his mark on the recording industry. “Everyday, I do something toward my music. I gotta do it. Nobody else is going to do it. If I’m not working on a beat, or writing, doing something.”
