After sharing a protest song supporting the Freddie Gray rallies in Baltimore, Prince performed a special concert in the city last night. The show was broadcast on TIDAL, while owners Jay Z, Beyoncé, and Alicia Keys were in attendance.
When hip-hop began, samples were all that DJs and producers had to construct instrumental tracks with. They'd dig through crates of vinyl trying to find isolated drum breaks, melodies or vocals that they could repurpose for use in hip-hop music.
On September 29th, Prince will release not one, but two new albums. One, PLECTRUMELECTRUM, will be a collaborative effort with his three piece 3RDEYEGIRL band, and the other, Art Official Age, will be a more standard offering from the Purple One.
Lil Mo did not have a great time at the Essence festival yesterday. Despite possessing a VIP pass, the singer had trouble making it to the bathroom backstage, being stopped by police while Prince was making his entrance.
