Four summers ago, Squadda B and Mondre Man hit pay dirt with 808s & Dark Grapes II, a tape with a reputation that would very quickly outgrow its Kanye-referencing name.

Since dropping the Kreayshawn-directed video for "Ain't No Other Way" last month, Main Attrakionz have gone full steam ahead on their long-awaited album 808s & Dark Grapes 3.

For a certain subset of rap listeners (myself included), Main Attrakionz's 808s & Dark Grapes 3 is one of the year's most anticipated projects. The long-awaited follow up to 2011's ...

One of the most influential groups from the short-lived "cloud rap" era was Main Attrakionz, a Bay Area duo whose 808s & Dark Grapes II remains a cult favorite to this day.

As far as "cloud rap" goes, Main Attrakionz were easily on of the first acts adding a strong dose of atmosphere and texture to their production, and often the best doing it.

We haven't heard new shit from the inimitable Bay Area duo Main Attrakionz in far too long. Other than MondreM.A.N.'s They Say I Struggle Rap (which is over a year old), him and Squadda B have been silent in the game, but hopefully that should soon change.

Main Attraktionz 's musical situation is improving with every new release, and On1 will most definitely help the cause. It's a fine addition to the growing body of work Main Attraktionz has been developing since stepping foot in the game.
