Swet Shop Boys release new track "Zayn Malik."
Fresh off Swet Shop Boys' new album Cashmere come the visuals for "Zayn Malik," an angry cry against mainstream Britain's treatment of its South Asian population. Swet Shop Boys is the pet project of Heems, formerly one half of Das Racist, Riz Ahmed , better known as Bodhi Rook in Star Wars: Rogue I, and producer Redinho.
The video takes place in the dim-lit streets of immigrant UK neighborhoods. Riz does most of the spitting while chopper lights circle overhead. His rhymes are fierce and menacing not unlike the political climate that has taken over Europe and America. The beat is reminiscent of grimy, hardcore New York hip hop.
