Supreme and The North Face have collaborated in the past, but this might be their dopest collection yet. While native New Yorkers might be familiar with the Steep Tech line from North Face, we’ll give you a quick refresher.
Steep Tech was created by legendary extreme skier Scot Schmidt in conjunction with The North Face because he felt that existing ski gear didn’t cater to his needs on the slopes. Schmidt explains that “a lot of the ski suits didn’t have the things I needed, and I was always stitching things together… making them more usable.” That’s why you see all sorts of pockets, clips and zippers that aren’t on your typical gear from The North Face.
The line originally launched in 1991 and then was discontinued in 1998. However, it was brought back quickly because of continued demand on the east coast. You can still see people rocking these jackets throughout New York City, as they’re perfect for the Northeast’s harsh winters.
This year’s collection with Supreme consists of waterproof, abrasion resistant Tech Hooded jackets ($388), Steep Tech Hooded Sweatshirts ($198), Steep Tech Sweatpants ($168) and a Steep Tech Backpack ($148). Everything is on sale today in NY, LA, London and Paris Supreme stores, as well as online.
