StupidGenius are among the leaders of the new Boston scene, though the duo hails from the neighboring town of Lowell aka Mill City. They'd impressed with past collabs with Tory Lanez as well as Cousin Stizz, and the duo has now dropped a 14-track mixtape, Gamechangers, that provides a full spectrum of the different sounds with which they dabble.
The aforementioned collabs showed off something of a R&B-inspired trap feel, but one of Gamechanger's new tracks, "Get to the Chopper," featuring Quality Control's OG Maco, is a totally new sound. The production is made up of a lounge-y synth melody that's met with intermittent but forceful bass and 808s. The track also features fellow Mill City emcee CK Major.
The beat is pretty, but with that bass, it's certainly gonna crush in the club. What really gets the adrenaline going, though, are the raps. Somewhat surprisingly, the more sinister verses come from the northern rappers, while OG Maco stays relatively cool.
