Sonny Digital "50 On My Wrist" Video
Sonny Digital continues to roll out new videos. After dropping off “Work Hard” last month & “SRGOW” a few weeks ago, the ATL producer-turned-artist decides to keep it moving by sharing his latest visual offering for “50 On My Wrist.”
Sonny Digital "SRGOW" Video
Atlanta legend Sonny Digital has put so many rappers on with his beats, and he's often not credited to the extent he deserves. Over the past couple of years -- and in 2016 especially -- he's been pushing his own brand hard, and doing so by rapping over his own instrumentals. Even more recently, he's been hitting up some of his fellow beat-making bosses in ATL and seeing if his rap skills translate to their productions. They do indeed. One of Sonny's best cuts of the year is "SRGOW," which is the acronym for his new tag and slogan: Sonny Rollin' Grams of Wax.
Sonny Digital & Dice SoHo "Work Hard" Video
Sonny Digital & Dice SoHo
Sonny Digital has been producing hits since "Racks." These days, he's increasingly interested in becoming a hip hop auteur -- a rapper and producer who can do it all. His latest release "Work Hard" finds him posted up in the trap house with Houston riser Dice SoHo and their posse, sipping lean, counting money, tossing around huge bags of weed, etc, etc. Sonny raps over an infectious, blood-pumping trap beat, presumably of his own creation. "Work hard, everyday," he says. "Yesterday, I made 100K."
Lil Durk "True" Video
After a few delays, Lil Durk is finally ready to drop his first project of the year, LilDurk2x, the follow-up to his debut album, Remember My Name, which was released last summer. A couple of weeks before the July 22 release date, Durk has decided to share the video to "True," the Sonny Digital-produced 2x track that he released last month. "True" is a high-adrenaline anthem that finds the screeching synth work of Sonny D. working in harmony with Durk's melodic punchlines.
Watch Metro Boomin, Zaytoven & Sonny Digital's Beatmakers Round Table Lecture
Metro Boomin, Zaytoven & Sonny Digital
In many ways Atlanta is the most active city in rap right now, and much of that has to do with the prolific and boundary-pushing stable of producers in the city. In a new Red Bull lecture, three of the most well-known beatmakers in the city join rap writer Andrew Noz to talk about their city's creative community, and their respective catalogues.
21 Savage "Supply" Video
21 Savage has been ready to blow for a minute, with a lot of support out of his hometown of Atlanta. He recently released Slaughter King, but decided to return to the Free Guwop mixtape with a video for “Supply.” The Sonny Digital, Southside and Metro Boomin’ produced track gets a forbidding video directed by Will Hoopes.
50 Cent "I'm The Man" Short Film
There was a lot of quality on 50 Cent's latest project, The Kanan Tape, and though it'd be difficult to name the single best track, "I'm the Man" -- behind breathtaking Sonny Digital production -- is surely the most powerful. 50 has now used the track as the inspiration for a short film of the same title.
Rich The Kid & iLoveMakonnen "Still Workin It" Video
Rich The Kid & iLoveMakonnen
After numerous delays, Rich the Kid and iLoveMakonnen come through with the video for "Still Workin It" off their Whip It EP. For the video, the dynamic duo heads to the subway of New York City, shocking and entertaining commuters with their wacky antics. More music videos should do this. Produced by Sonny Digital, "Still Workin It" features a beat that is nothing short of fire. RTK and Makonnen did their thing to be sure, but in the hands of a more mainstream artist, say Fetty Wap, it could be a radio smash.
Key! Talks "Screaming Dreams" & Touring With iLoveMakonnen
Blessing 2014 with great projects like Give Em Hell (with OG Maco) and FKeyi (with FKi), Key! solidified his place as one of New Atlanta's essential artists, and now he's ready to shut down the summer once again. With his Screaming Dreams tape already due out on August 8th, Key!
Sonny Digital "Good" Video
Sonny Digital is Atlanta's answer to PARTYNEXTDOOR, something we didn't know we needed. Much like the Toronto songwriter, Sonny is a producer first, but in this case, he waited a while to try his hand at getting behind the mic. "Good' first made the rounds back in December, but it didn't quite get the credit it deserved. Today, Sonny has unveiled a psychedelic new video for the record, which captures the feel of the song in a way that should give it a second wind.
iLoveMakonnen "Loudest of the Loud Tour - On the Road Pt. 2" Vlog
iLoveMakonnen is currently on tour with two of his trustiest collaborators, Key! and the venerable hitmaker Sonny Digital, and while on the road, he's sharing his journey with us via a vlog. After episode one arrived earlier this week, we have the distinct pleasure of premiering number two. Watch it above.
Sonny Digital Talks Making Hits On Hot 97
You may not recognize the face, but you know the producer tag. Sonny Digital, who just received a Grammy nod for his work on iLoveMakonnen's "Tuesday," has been making hits since 2011, when YC and Future's "Racks" first broke out. He was in NYC for a show with Father and Manolo Rose, and while visiting, he stopped by Hot 97 for an interview.
Ken Rebel "2WO" Video
If you haven't been acquainted yet with young Kenny Rebel, now's the time, because the rapper just dropped a new project seven days ago, Rebelution. Like Resolution, but only more rebellious.
Rich The Kid "I Dont Sell Molly No More (Remix)" Video
Rich The Kid
A few weeks ago, Quality Control signee Rich The Kid offered up a remix of iLoveMakonnen's "I Don't Sell Molly No More," one of Makonnen's deepr cuts. "I Don't Sell Molly No More" might be the manikin-loving singer's second most popular track after the Drake co-singed "Tuesday," but it hasn't gotten a fraction of the remixes that "Tuesday" has received. Rich The Kid is here to change that.
Curtis Williams "Drugs (Prod. By Sonny Digital)" Video
The collective of rappers Two-9 saw their stock rise recently when it was formally announced that the crew had signed a deal with Mike WiLL Made It's Ear Drumma imprint/Interscope Records.
Que Feat. Bankroll Fresh "Fuck Around" Video
Que Feat. Bankroll Fresh
Last week, Que dropped off "Fuck Around," a loosie produced by Sonny Digital and featuring Bankroll Fresh. Now he's shared a visual for the new track, a raucous, hottie-filled clip. Watch it above. The track has Que and Bankroll Fresh propositioning girls with "the fuck around," and in the video, they get a chance to make those propositions in person. Sonny Digital's beat alternates between minimal, synth-lead parts and chaotic, clattering percussion, ending up sounding like a rather industrial take on trap music.
Que "Time" Video
Que's new EP, Who Is Que is set to arrive on March 25th, and the ATL spitter's track "Time", which originally dropped back in December, now gets the visual treatment in promotion of the project. While his definitive track, "OG Bobby Johnson" is not the work of Sonny Digital (the song in fact takes its name from its producer), Que and Sonny have a long-standing musical partnership.
