Sonny Digital announced his Woke You Up EP at the top of the year, and today, he's shared a freestyle bearing the same name. The short track is produced by Bwheezy and Sonny himself. The beat is tense and urgent, built off of driving 808s that later introduce creeping piano keys. As for Sonny's performance, it very much carries the energy of a freestyle, as he shares stream of consciousness rhymes that fit comfortably within the pocket of the instrumental -- being a producer first probably helps with that.
Looking at the artwork, the names Black Boe, Lil Xan, and Steve Cannon are listed, most likely meaning they will be featured on the EP. Still no word on when the project will arrive, but judging by this release and "We On," shared at the beginning of the month, it can't be too far away.
