Showtime is set to debut their documentary Can I Be Me? chronicling Whitney Houston's journey through the music industry on Aug. 26.
The film will show the late songstress' battles not just with her personal struggles, but also those within the music industry; such as the desire from record executives to make her records sound deliberately pop. It was an attempt to craft and mold her as the "All-American" girl, although her true desire was to produce more soulful and urban music.
The doc will also explore how those struggles collided with her personal life creating a perfect storm of sorts. From the trailer it certainly appears to be a must see.
