The iconic DJ slash producer Statik Selektah has been prepping his new album for a minute now, and a new Run The Jewels led single has surfaced online. "Put Jewels On It" marks the third single off 8, coming off the drop of the 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa assisted banger "Man Of The Hour." This latest release showcases Statik Selektah's versatility, and he comes through with a smooth, old-school instrumental on a comic-book, film noir tip. It's a hell of a stylistic departure for Killer Mike and El-P's usual modus operandi, but to be honest, it's awesome to hear them get down over something like this.

Their traditional musical aesthetic, while generally solid as hell, is often frantic and chaotic in the best possible way. Here, however, they have room to shine as the beast lyricists they are, trading effortless bars over horns and boom-bap percussion. It's crazy that El-P and Killer Mike have managed to get better with age, and both rappers are consistently bringing one upping themselves in terms of flow. While that upward trend doesn't necessarily translate to the quality of their albums, Jamie and Mike remain one of the most formidable duos in the game, with one of the most impeccable discographies to match.

As for Statik Selektah, he has accompanied this release with 8's official release date and tracklist, which features some potentially deadly collabos.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

I came up on some brain blown, full of smoke, livin' in a terrordome
Bad kid, born to kill a king with my hands, shit
Put em' up, runners run em' up, gonna gun em' up
Son em' up, what a run of luck, I'm a ton of fun
