With Run The Jewels 2 slated to hit retail this October, collaborators Killer Mike & El-P are offering some very interesting online-only exclusives for the fans. Most notable of these exclusives is a $40,000 dollar pre-order for Meow The Jewels, a rendition of Run The Jewels 2 with all of the instrumentals re-created using nothing but cat sounds.
"You are free to profit from this album in any way you see fit up to 100k in net global profit or 3 years (whichever comes first)," reads the product description on Daylight Curfew. The page also notes that the group “reserves the right to take your money and not fulfill any of its obligations as outlined in any package priced at 35k or more," insinuating the whole thing may just be a joke. That prospect, however, hasn't stopped some literal pussy-loving fans from donating to a Kickstarter campaign that would -- hopefully -- ensure the project's release.
Speaking with Noisey about the campaign, El-P admitted to being high while writing the pre-order deal, but confirmed that he will follow through if the money is raised. "I must clarify: I was very stoned when I wrote those,” he said. As if rap music with kitten instruments wasn't good enough, P also promised to donate all proceeds raised from Meow The Jewels to the families of Mike Brown and Eric Garner.
"[When incidents like this happen,] everyone gets really, really into it for maybe a week, and then it kind of just gets brushed away, but some things you can't just brush away." El-P told Noisey. "If you're given the sacrosanct honor of being one of the few people in this society who are allowed to legally take somebody's life, then you have to be held to a standard that is so far above the average citizen's standard that it's almost impossible to achieve with any type of leeway."
Killer Mike also expressed surprise at the success of the Kickstarter page saying, "I can't believe those crazy fucking bastards are doing it. If they actually pull it off, we're going to actually do it. I'm overwhelmed by it. On one front, it's wild and silly. On another front, it shows the power of independence."

Although it seemed like a joke when it was initially announced, the "Meow The Jewels" package of Run The Jewels' new album will actually be made, as it's just reached its funding goal of $40,000. Since it began picking up steam on Kickstarter, producers Just Blaze, The Alchemist, Geoff Barrow, Skywlkr, Zola Jesus, Nick Rook, Baauer, Prince Paul, Dan The Automator and Boots have all said that they'll contribute to the project.
