To rev up the anticipation for his upcoming album, Layers, Royce da 5'9" has shared a new track, "Which Is Cool," along with an accompanying video. The track is a "pre-album bonus" that won't be included on Layers, but regardless, it's a sharp take on some of the more lamentable trends in the rap game as well in the streets.
Royce has been sober for a few years now, so the new video, which takes place in a liquor store, finds him coming face-to-face with what was once a weakness, and emerging unbothered. During his trek through the store, he notices the same mind over matter mentality doesn't prevail with most of those whom he encounters -- "which is cool," he remarks. Royce is content to paint his surroundings as he sees them, with the hope that the real will reveal itself.
Layers will include last week's single, "Tabernacle," which also came with a video. Pre-order the album on iTunes before its April 15 release.
