It's looking like his latest mixtape, OMMIO 3, will be the tipping point for RJ. The rapper has been buzzing locally for some time, but it's about time he transcends the Los Angeles area. The Pushaz Ink affiliated rapper has been doing his part, pushing OMMIO 3 with more video content than past projects, in addition to a press run in NYC where we had him sit down for our On The Come Up video series. Not to mention, he's joining YG on the road for his "Fuck Donald Trump" tour.

Following the police killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, the U.S. is in the midst of an important discussion about race and police brutality. RJ's new video for "Flex" looks at the tension between police officers and black men, beginning with text that explains that the rapper's organized outdoor workout was broken up by cops after being described as a "gang gathering". The West Coast rapper still managed to get some good shots, and was able to spin the clips into a comment on the biases held by officers.

Fresh off the release of his celebrated mixtape OMMIO 3, RJ has developed into one of Los Angeles' most exciting artists. In an interview with HNHH, RJ discussed his early influences, which were predominately east coast rappers like Jay Z. "They was tearing stuff up.," he said. "I gravitated to them because of the story they was telling. West Coast rap was getting a little mundane. But I'm glad we back!"
