O.T. Genasis, previously a virtually-unknown New York rapper, has a hit on his hands. With almost no street-level, grass roots-type movement behind "CoCo," the song that's taking off, Genasis' success is mostly due to a strong marketing push and the support of Busta Rhymes (who recently showed up to a CMJ show to run through the track four straight times). Now RiFF RAFF, a noted cocaine (or rather, "kokayne") enthusiast, has teamed up with trap-appropriating dance crews Trapzillas and Major Lazer to remix the song.
Sounding primed to grace dancefloors filled with molly-popping, neon-clad kids, this "CoCo" remix achieves what it most likely set out to do.
