Ty Dolla $ign delivered his Beach House 2 mixtape just in time for summer. At first glance, the tape's tracklist looks iffy. There's at least one guest appearance on each song, something which is often frowned upon by devout fans and critics. However, flooding a project with features has been done successfully before, as was the case with The Game's 2012 album Jesus Piece. As for Beach House 2, what really sticks out is the project's brilliant production.

One of the better songs on the tape is "Paranoid". Produced by DJ Mustard, not only does the song have a catchy beat, but it has an addictive chorus as well. On the hook, Ty Dolla $ign sings, "Yeah I'm paranoid, I'm trippin' / I've been smokin', I've been sippin' / I'm fuckin' around with two bitches / But I never made them hoes my missus." Ty also connects with fellow LA native Joe Moses on the track, who provides a strong verse.

Being the newest member of TGOD, Ty Dolla $ign flaunts his talents on songs assisted by established Taylors like Wiz and Juicy. "Ratchet In My Benz" is a slow, easygoing track featuring Juicy J, and Ty's soft-sung vocals flow nicely over the booming 808s. The following song, "Irie", is really the only true banger on Beach House 2. A surprise to nobody, Ty enlisted Wiz Khalifa for a song mainly focused on smoking joints. The newly admitted Taylor sings an infectious hook, and also raps a verse over a knocking beat produced by DJ Spinz. This collaboration is much more hectic than their other song on the tape, "I Bet".

Overall, Beach House 2 is a solid project from Ty Dolla $ign. It grows repetitious at points, but the large number of features keep it interesting to listen to. It's clear that Ty has the ability to make a hit record, but the fact that he relies so heavily on features is a bit worrisome. Regardless, Taylor Gang seem to have added another potential star to their roster.
