Impossible Dream
Impossible Dream
Apollo Brown & Ras Kass Feat. Sean Price & Bleu DaVinci
HOTTTTT
It's been a minute since Apollo Brown & Ras Kass dropped their critically-acclaimed collaborative tape Blasphemy, but it's never too late to win over some converts. The duo returns to our front page with a non-album bonus track from the project, "Impossible Dream." Featuring verses from Sean Price & Bleu Davinci, the record reestablishes Ras Kass as one of hip-hop's premier lyrical philosophers. Price and Davinci, meanwhile, come through with predictably inspired verses of their own. Hip-hop heads should find plenty to enjoy here.
Interference
Interference
DJ JS-1 Feat. Ras Kass & Esoteric
HOTTTTT
DJ JS-1 has been impressing readers for a few weeks now with a series of cuts from his new album It Is What It Isn't. A true DJ who not only produces his own material but also executes scratches, he's been a part of the NYC hip-hop scene in the 1990s, steadily rising to the top of his game. On "Interference," JS-1 continues doing what he does best: drawing quality material from some of rap's finest. Ras Kass and Esoteric, both dope spitters in their own right, sound truly inspired on this one. Give the track a listen and let us know what you think.
How To Kill God
How To Kill God
Apollo Brown & Ras Kass
HOTTTTT
Ras Kass & Apollo Brown continue to drop some of the dopest hip-hop around with "How To Kill God." The latest single from the duo's upcoming Blasphemy LP follows the VERY HOTTTT certified "Giraffe Pussy." Built off of Brown's typically soulful, sample-driven instrumental, this new one finds Ras Kass musing on discrepancies within religious institutions. It's a thought-provoking record that demands multiple listens.
Giraffe Pussy
Giraffe Pussy
Apollo Brown & Ras Kass Feat. Royce Da 5’9”, Xzibit & Bishop Lamont
VERY HOTTTTT
Generally speaking, I do my best to avoid any song referencing the genitalia of any species in the animal kingdom that isn't human. For Apollo Brown & Ras Kass, however, I was willing to make an exception. Fortunately not about interspecies relations, "Giraffe Pussy" is actually a reference to how high one might be. (To my knowledge, Ludacris made the reference first on "Hip Hop Quotables" back in 2003.)
H20
H20
Apollo Brown Feat. Ras Kass, Pharoahe Monch & Rakaa Iriscience
HOTTTTT
Water makes up 71% of Earth's surface and about 60% of the human body. Some idiot once said that all you need is love. In reality, all you really need is some "H20." The latest drop from acclaimed producer Apollo Brown with collaborator Ras Kass isn't as important as the elements that it takes its name from, but, hey, it's pretty damn great regardless.
