In 2010, Faith Evans Grammy-winning singer and widow of Brooklyn rapper Christopher "The Notorious B.I.G." Wallace, was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, and later released. It happened when Faith was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint north of Marina Del Rey and exhibited signs of intoxication. This isn’t the first time Evans had a run in with the law-- in 2004, Evans and her husband, Todd Russaw, were arrested in Atlanta on drug possession charges.
Rappers' Wives That Have Been Arrested
Kim Mathers, Eminem's ex-wife, has a pretty extensive arrest record. Mathers was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance of less than 25 grams, driving with license suspended, revoked, or denied, and failure to use due care while passing a stationary emergency vehicle in 2003. In 2001, Mathers was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant for disturbing the peace in Warren, Michigan. Finally, in 2000 she was arrested for attempted suicide.
In 2007, singer Kelis, Nas’s ex-wife, was booked with two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence. It all happened when Kelis tried to disrupt an undercover police operation by screaming racial profanities, and rushing toward two female officers posing as prostitutes.
In 2010, both rapper T.I. and his wife Tameka "Tiny" Harris were arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance in LA. According to the police reports "deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.” When the narcotic investigation took place Tiny and T.I. were "found to be in possession of a controlled substance.”
In 2011, Nivea was arrested for DUI after hitting a tree with her child in the car in Atlanta. In addition to the charge of “driving under the influence less safe,” she was charged with reckless driving and driving too fast for conditions. Nivea took to Twitter to tell everyone she was innocent saying, ”Its just unfortunate how the Media & Law can be used against you when you don't know enough about the way they work.” Nivea also posted. "I WAS NOT DRINKING AND DRIVING, the accident was not due to me being intoxicated. Just wanted to clear that."
In 2010, Ecreia Perez, Shawty Lo’s almost-wife, was arrested for trying to bring a handgun in a courthouse. Police said a woman attempted to sneak a semi-automatic handgun, as well as cleverly disguised stun gun into the Fulton County courthouse. Investigators said the woman was arrested going into Fulton County superior court Tuesday. When she was stopped, the woman was carrying a handgun and a phone with a stun gun attached. Who knows what she had planned, but whatever it was, she was ready!
In 2010, while Lil Boosie was going through his legal problems, so was his girl Walnita Decuir. Her run in with the law included drug charges, and she was also charged with intent to distribute narcotics such as codeine, ecstasy and marijuana. Not to mention, three counts of conspiracy to commit possession with intent to distribute narcotics, and two counts of conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution.
"Love and Hip-Hop" New York's Chrissy Lampkin, who is Jim Jones' current fiance was arrested days before the New Year for disorderly conduct. TMZ reports that Chrissy was in a bar fight in New Jersey and injured the girl so badly she had to be hospitalized. She was bloodied, and doctors had to stitch up the area above her eye. Sources say it all started when a girl sat on a sofa Chrissy was on and bumped into someone. The official charges are aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
Many people may not know "Love and Hip-Hop" Atlanta star and wife to Stevie J, Joseline Hernandez has a criminal background. But that’s probably because Joseline Hernandez isn’t her birth name. in 2003 and 2007 Joseline was arrested for lewd and lascivious behavior but the arrest was under her real name Shenellica Bettencourt. Most people read lewd and lascivious behavior as soliciting prostitution but it can range from anything from indecent exposure to solicitation of a minor. And Hernandez’s public criminal record doesn’t detail her arrest so it’s impossible to know the specifics.
In 2007, Remy Ma was arrested on attempted murder charges in New York. It all happened when a 23-year-old woman was shot outside a New York City club early Saturday after an argument. Remy ma reported to police at around 8 p.m. Saturday evening and was also arrested on charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Ma was convicted of the charges and sentenced to eight years in prison.
In 2008, Shante Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s wife, was arrested for DUI in California. Not too much is known about the incident other than she was picked up at 12:15 a.m. in Fullerton, Calif., she was released with a citation and there was no bail. Snoop and Shante have been together since high school.
The details surrounding Toya’s arrest are real sketchy. TMZ reports she was pulled over in College Park, GA and during the stop the police noticed Wright had a warrant out for her arrest. The warrant was said to be issued after Toya missed a court appearance but no one seems to know why she had to appear in court to begin with. She was arrested and released the same day and has not commented on the incident since.
