Every week, R-Mean has had new fire to unleash. The best part about it is, it's hard to predict what he may drop next. He's been dropping some heavy bangers, some heartfelt, introspective music and everything in between. Today he drops the epic song "Family" for week 36 of Mean Mondays.
It's difficult to say that R-Mean doesn't come equipped with some heavy bars. Last week, he took things on a more softer tip with "In Love," this week he pledges his loyalty to the fam with "Family." Over sample-heavy production, R-Mean talks about staying loyal to the team and how different people define the idea of loyalty. While in rap and in the streets, it's common for many to lose friends to simple things. R-Mean elaborates on that. While people are quick to call you family, they are just as quick to turn their backs on you to their benefit. "Family" is a reflection of the people closest, that may not be blood relatives but that you'd shed blood over. It's an intense song, as most R-Mean songs are. However, the passion in R-Mean's voice on this record speaks just as strong as the bars he spits.
With only four months left in 2017, R-Mean still has sixteen weeks to go. He's been consistently dropping music every week and hasn't disappointed yet. Back in July, he compiled every Mean Monday song that he released to that point and put them all on a mixtape so we'll probably end up seeing another mixtape by the time this weekly series comes to an end. However, we're hoping to see a full project from him in the near future. He's been hard to ignore for this past year and with all that momentum when he goes into 2018, he's definitely bound to have some more music up his sleeve.
