Both Playboi Cart and Lil Uzi Vert are having stellar years when it comes to their respective solo careers. The former recently had his single "Magnolia" go platinum and the latter already has hundreds of millions of streams under his belt for his runaway smash single "XO Tour Llif3." Now, the two young emcees have teamed up for a new music video for their collaboration "wokeuplikethis*," a track that's featured on Carti's self-titled record from earlier this year.
Taking place, for the most part, within the confines of a prison, the camera focuses and Carti and watches him ooze confidence as he shows us that the cell life hasn't made him lose one ounce of his swag. At one point, he's surrounded by other inmates in the prison courtyard, all wearing white shirts except for him, egging him on as he lets the rhymes flow freely.
Lil Uzi Vert also shows up in one of the video's oddest passages, with the look and feel stolen from one of the average, cigarette smoke-filled cop movies that takes place mostly in an interrogation room. Once there, Uzi flaunts multiple pieces, all while the camera moves in a slow, three-sixty motion, enabling the viewers to take everything in.
