Before passing away last week at the age of 45, Phife Dawg, of the legendary group A Tribe Called Quest, was working on a new album called Give Thanks. Today, a new song & accompanying video was released in its support called “Nutshell,” which is produced by J Dilla. “Phife loved his fans, and was so excited for them to hear his new music,” his widow said in a released statement. “I feel like he would have wanted it this way.”

Last month, beloved rapper and member of a Tribe Called Quest, Phife Dawg, lost his battle with diabetes, and the rap community is still in mourning. Tonight, live at the Apollo, an event is being held to remember and celebrate the life of Phife, which will feature an array of guest appearances (Kelly Price just showed up).

While his presence may not be felt physically anymore, his legacy & music will most certainly live on.
