Only 3 years ago, Pete Shawn was riding in the back of his cousin’s ‘lac in New Jersey, when he got caught up in a car cipher that fueled his passion for rap and place him among the genre’s rising stars. Born in Jamaica, Pete Shawn had migrated to New Jersey in 2007 and spent a lot of time hanging out with his cousins who later got him involved in the art that changed his life. One day as they traveled in West Orange, New Jersey, his cousins - who spent a lot of their time rapping - started a cipher in their car and encouraged Pete Shawn to spit a verse. Pete joined in the cipher and discovered that he had found a new love. Later, PeteShawn would get a beat from YouTube and using his ‘China Mic’, (a mic that he bought from China on ebay), he would freestyle and record his verses. A year and a half later, after adopting a go hard or go home mentality, Pete Shawn was becoming someone to take notice of! Since then, Pete Shawn has devoted himself to rapping and says it gives him an indescribable energy. By posting his music on YouTube, ReverbNation, HotNewHipHop, DatPiff, MySpace and Facebook he has met many other upcoming artistes and has received a lot of positive feedback which inspires him to continue working at his craft and honing his skills.
