- TELL EM IM BENT
Only Business Raised in New Haven, Ct and Queens, Ny, accredits New Haven and Queens to the ideas and concepts applied to his music. O.B. now 22 years old got to witness the music industry from a front row seat watching and learning from music legends like LL cool J and Cut Creator. He began composing and performing his own musical works in 1996, at the age of 9. Than for the next 9 years he applied all his life experiences to paper and eventually buying his own home recording studio and working on a demo. In 2004, he had a one on one listening session with LL cool J and decided with positive feedback from LL cool J to pursue a career in music. Setting up his own production company, paying for his own studio time, and studio equipment paid off and in 2005, at age 18 O.B. purchased his first vehicle a 3 series BMW and had his eyes on the prize. Linking up with his fathers lifelong friend LL cool J, O.B. found himself going on tour with LL in the summer of 2006. He got to experience every up and coming artists dream, how the pros do it. Later that year O.B. independently released his first mix tape “Corner the Market vol. 1” which reached over 5000 cd decks. Than in early 2007, linking up with female recording artist Remy Ma’s Dj, Dj Bedtyme, O.B. was making frequent trips to and from New York city going to radio stations, club events, and performing in artist venues. After generating a substantial buzz on the internet and from radio and club events, Only Business was contacted by The record label Dipset Taliban to work on numerous musical projects and distribution opportunities. By mid 2007, he completed his second installment to his “Corner the Market” mix tape series and aimed to release it in late 2007. So the next few months he promoted using: the internet, physical flyers, radio opportunities, and club events. By December 7, 2007 “Corner the Market vol. 2” had 2400 copies preordered and was ready for digital and physical distribution. O.B. only 20, was watching his dreams unfold before his eyes. Reality soon reminded O.B. of its presence and in mid 2008 O.B. found himself in trouble with the law. Soon after O.B released a third mix tape entitled “Who Ain’t Real vol. 1” which was distributed on the internet only and received a positive response. Now in legal trouble, O.B. decided to create music reflecting his situation and show his growth. In 9 months time O.B. created countless songs and was eventually sentenced to prison in early 2009. During his incarceration O.B. used his time wisely, writing day in and day out and using the time to reflect and focus. After being released from prison O.B. is out to set a mark on the music industry and will no doubt stand with the elite in hip hop. With a million dollar flow... O.B. is destined for greatness.
