Mello Music Group is preparing its annual compilation, and today the first release from the full-length has been released. "Requiem" pairs Oddissee and Phonte, who take the time to comment on current race and police brutality issues in the U.S. Oddissee provides the instrumental, which bears some resemblance to something J Dilla may have produced, complimenting a heavily filtered sample with some knocking drums.

The upcoming comp (titled Persona) will also feature contributions from Apollo Brown, yU, L’Orange, Red Pill, Ras Kass, Open Mike Eagle, Phonte, Rapper Big Pooh, Quelle Chris, Blockhead, Gift of Gab, Masta Ace, and more. Look out for it March 10th.

Quotable Lyrics:

Just unruly niggas and tar babies
But what if these fuck-ass Officer Barbradys
Was killin' y'all babies?
And the cost of your life was less than a dog's maybe
