Last year, the hip-hop community banded together to mourn the loss of Prodigy, who sadly passed away at 42 after accidentally choking while in the hospital. Though his presence was certainly missed, his legacy remains sturdy, thanks to an impressive body of work alongside rhyme partner Havoc. Today, fans will be pleased to welcome the arrival of some unreleased music from Mobb Deep, courtesy of DJ Absolut. Though the track itself is ostensibly new, all signs point to this one being plucked from the vaults. Enter the new banger "Don't Fuck With You."

Kicking off with a cinematic sample, the instrumental eventually explodes into a hard-hitting anthem, complete with unrelenting percussion. It's soulful in the way that early-millennium Just Blaze instrumentals were soulful, albeit lacking the polish of Blaze's carefully refined mixes. Still, it's great to hear both Havoc and Prodigy reunited on wax, even if it is on an unreleased & possibly unfinished track. Shout out to DJ Absolut for this one.

Quotable Lyrics

Taking long pulls of the joint
That gun cause that head traum
Than pass you up to God, dusty n***a I will dust off
Then clean you up nice, right now I see you uptight
I'm trying to help you out dawg, please take this piece of advice
