    Review: Migos' "Rich Nigga Timeline"
    Nov 17, 2014 at 02:26pm
For some reason or another, my timeline has recently been bombarded with a ton of Tweets and Instagram posts claiming that the Migos are better than The Beatles. As most logical rap fans can attest, there are definitely better ways to champion the trio as leaders of this new school in rap than to compare them with arguably the greatest group in the history of popular music. But as outrageous as it sounds, that outlandish claim would be slightly justifiable if their latest release, Rich Nigga Timeline was a stellar offering.

"Migos > The Beatles." You've probably seen that statement, or others like it, on your Twitter feed in the past month or so. What started as a joke to piss off rockists has snowballed into an internet-wide movement, and one that's caught the ears of the ATL trio themselves. When we recently interviewed the group, we asked if the comparisons held any water, and Quavo could see some similarities.

With their new mixtape Rich Nigga Timeline on the way, Migos nab the cover of The Fader's "Now" issue. Atlanta is definitely having a "now" moment in rap music, and Migos are assisting with that. The trio of rappers don all their gold chains and jewelry for the cover of the magazine, as well as posing for some individual shots. The Fader headed to Atlanta to see Offset, Takeoff and Quavo in their natural habitat, alongside their Quality Control Music head honchos Coach K and Pierre "Pee" Thomas.

Set the bar, raise the bar. It’s something Atlanta has done for years. For nearly two decades, ATL has kept their finger on the pulse of rap music. Hip-Hop’s southern capital has continuously flooded the industry with new artists and nightclub anthems, so it should be to no one’s amazement that Atlanta has once again struck gold. Trap music is winning. Forty “Versace” remixes and a Wiz Khalifa mixtape later, it’s safe to say we can all admit that.
