The week before Labor Day brought us some nice late summer treats in the form of Travis Scott's Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight, Isaiah Rashad's The Sun's Tirade, and Fabolous' Summertime Shootout 2. Of those, Scott's album was definitely the most feverishly anticipated, thanks to some delays as well as his substantial fanbase, and that popularity shows in this week's edition of Top Tracks. Scott leads the pack with three appearances, but oddly enough, none as a lead artist.
Migos Are Dropping Their 2nd Album, "CULTURE," This Month
With two rock-solid 2016 releases, YRN 2 and 3 Way, already under their Versace belts, the Migos have revealed their plans to share a full album, which will be the follow-up to their debut album, last summer's Yung Rich Nation. And it's coming this month. Keep in mind that Streets on Lock 5, a collaborative project with Rich the Kid, is also set to drop this month, due out on Sept. 16. No Label 3 was also supposed to be on the near horizon.
Young Thug's "No, My Name Is Jeffery" (Review)
Some artists pay homage to their idols with covers albums, Young Thug does it with No, My Name Is Jeffery, an album that actually features two of the heroes he names, but not on the tracks named after them. The fact that Wyclef Jean and Gucci Mane are both on the album but don't appear on the tracks "Wyclef Jean" or "Guwop" describes Young Thug's songwriting style in a nutshell: he'll name tracks "Picacho" and "Quaterback," but he sure as hell won't devote more than one line to either Pokémon or football.

Can we finally breathe a sign of relief after what's proven to be a crazy August?

It's been a pretty wild week, kickstarted with the surprise drop of Frank Ocean's Blonde. The boy really came through. But it didn't end there. Last night, another boundary-pushing artist released his own highly anticipated project, as Young Thug attempted an artistic rebirth of sorts with No, My Name Is Jeffery, which arrived with the most memorable album cover of the year.

Quavo Calls Out DJ Drama For Not Mentioning Migos Among Top ATL Influencers
During his recent interview with The Breakfast Club, DJ Drama spoke on the enduring strength of the Atlanta hip-hop scene, naming some of the city's most influential artists past and present, albeit with one glaring omission. "If we take the OutKast’s, the Ludacris’s, the T.I.’s, the Jeezy’s, and the Gucci’s, and the Future’s, and the Chainz’s, and the Thug’s, you know, it’s in a good place,” said Drama.

10 Essential Rich The Kid Tracks
A little over 12 months ago, Rich the Kid was sitting in a jail cell. Since his release, he's been on a tear; he's released seven mixtapes, taken Famous Dex under his wing, and networked relentlessly to position himself among hip hop's upper class. Rich is a true hustler. He knows what he wants (money) and he'll stop at nothing to get it. Click through the gallery to listen 10 of Rich's best songs.

I'm not going to take the time to crunch all of the numbers for the 28 weeks of 2016 we've experienced thus far, but in terms of artists who show up most often in our weekly top ten tracks list, it's not even close. Drake is the clear victor, seeming to find a way on here every week. Second place is a little more murky.
Rae Sremmurd & Migos To Drop "Look Alive" Remix
Big-time remix incoming. The track, released in April, is the third single off Rae Sremmurd's upcoming sophomore album, SremmLife 2. For the remix, brothers Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi have recruited the three cousins who make up the Migos.

Things are still unsettling in terms of our social climate, and obviously yesterday's incident at Bastille Day out in France isn't helping, leading to social media's usage of the #prayfortheworld hashtag. However on the music front, we had a pretty thriving week.
Ty Dolla $ign's "Campaign" To Feature Meek Mill, Travis Scott, Migos, Wiz Khalifa & More
Since releasing his excellent debut album, Free TC, in November of last year, Ty Dolla $ign has appeared on a number of features but hasn't yet given fans a project in 2016. Last month, however, Ty announced two upcoming mixtapes: Beach House 3 and Campaign. Earlier today, he premiered the title track of the latter project. "Campaign" is a heavy club anthem featuring Future that finds each of the melodic hitmen at his most ratchet.

This week was dominated more by saddening news stories than it was by music, but the social outcry regarding the many innocent lives that were taken in the past week have also resulted directly in new music-- it's bittersweet, obviously. With plenty of artists hitting the booth to give their own take on the tense social climate, we definitely didn't lack in songs this past week.
