Mick Jenkins is one of the most eloquent dudes in rap. Fresh off his excellent Waves EP, he stopped by Late Night with Peter Rosenberg to chop it up.
Mick's been busy on tour and working on his album The Healing Component due out sometime in 2016. He says he's got something special planned for the fans.
He talked about the Chicago music scene, explained the philosophy behind his crew Free Nation Rebel Soldiers, and shared his favorite rapper of all-time (different from Jill Scott, "hands down" his favorite artist).
Mick said he's always been a creative writer, partly because his mother is a journalist. He discusses about his humble beginnings, writing poetry in high school and entering rap competitions in college to try and win Beats by Dre headphones.
