Boston homies, Michael Christmas and producer Tedd Boyd, connect today for "Paranoid," which features a chorus of 'doos,' a la barbershop quartet, in the background. Michael provides his usual dose of insights and reflections on his daily routine ("in the shower wearing these aviators, playing all Young Dro hits, cause I'm not focused").
We're excited to premiere the record, which serves as the first leak off Mickey Christmas' forthcoming project-- he was keeping the title under wraps for a bit, but today he's also announcing the project title along with the premiere, Baggy Eyes EP. The EP is set to drop later in the month.
The rapper sent over a few words about Baggy Eyes, telling us, "Baggy Eyes is about being awake at all hours of the night because you can't sleep when all you're thinking about is creating and having a lit ass future. Sometimes when I try to go to sleep I imagine a huge show where people go crazy for me and just like that, I'm up for a few more hours. It also represents the time I write and think of my best shit - when I'm dead tired. As an artist my sleep schedule is fucked and as bad as it is, I like it that way. It feels good to be tired from dreaming. A lot of these songs got written the same way, when I put a cartoon on mute at 5 in the morning and decide it's time to write some fire before I eventually go to sleep."
Groundhog day every day Bill Murray
Cause I'm in the same fit and my face still furry
And this shit mundane and this shit get boring
So I take long breaks on these real big tours
And come back to the spot and kick my shoes off, stay up
Those socks in the hamper, lay-up, Kobe
