Makonnen is finally back with some music after laying low for a while. The artist's last release was almost a year ago. The track in question was “Love,” a collaboration with Rae Sremmurd, Mike Will, and Travis Barker. At the time, there were also talks of collaborative efforts with the late Lil Peep, who died in November of 2017. It is unclear whether this music will be officially released in the future. Makonnen's loss may have contributed to the length of his musical hiatus, adding meaning to his return. For now, Makonnen offers a 4 track project ILoveAmerica. The collection mostly contains solo tracks. Only one feature made the cut as Key!, a previous collaborator, joins the Atlanta rapper for “TWENTY’S ON THAT FLO.”
This release comes as a sigh of relief for many fans who have been waiting for a cohesive project since his last. His mixtape Red Trap Dragon was released independently in 2016.
