Yelawolf Calls Macklemore Out For Similar Deer Logo Aug 5, 2013 at 07:46pm
YelaWolf is not happy with Macklemore. This weekend, both rappers performed at the Osheaga Music Festival in Montreal, Canada. All was well until Yela was approached by a fan for a photo. The rapper obliged the fan, but took interest in the festival-goer's shirt. Catfish Billy, who has been pushing his deer logo for some time now, assumed that the shirt was one of his own, but it turned out to be a Macklemore tee, which also happened to use a deer as its logo.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Almost Banned From Rap Category At The Grammys
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Almost Banned From Rap Category At The Grammys Jan 23, 2014 at 05:34pm
The Grammys finally go down this weekend, on Sunday January 27th, so there's plenty of Grammy discussion going down these past few days both rap-related and not.  In the rap sphere, the competition is stiff, mainly divided between Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Jay Z. Of course, Kanye West and J. Cole, among other rappers, also received nods this year.

Method Man Calls Macklemore Out For Walking On Crowd, Claims He Invented It Apr 30, 2013 at 01:10pm
Fans at the mtvU Woodie awards were impressed by a stage move Macklemore broke out the show, which found him performing an act similar to crowd surfing, but instead walking across the audience as they held him by his feet. It seems that Wu-Tang rapper Method Man was not impressed by the feat, mainly because he's been doing it himself for some time.

This week we saw Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience break another record, after first topping Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV in first week sales, it became the first record in 2013 to crack one million sales, going platinum just two weeks after it dropped. On the other end of the spectrum, we saw Weezy F's album, I Am Not A Human Being II, sell a strong 217k, but it did not really live up to his past LP sales.
Macklemore Covers Rolling Stone Magazine
Macklemore Covers Rolling Stone Magazine Aug 13, 2013 at 08:53pm
Macklemore continues to pile up the accomplishments. Next up on his list is the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. The Seattle rapper took to his twitter a little while ago to reveal the cover. Alongside the picture, Mac wrote #Sharkfacegang. Coincidental that Shark Week just ended, but I do kind of see what he's saying there. Make sure to pick up a copy of the issue when it hits newsstands at the end of the month. Check out the cover in the gallery above.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Working On New Music Jan 11, 2014 at 11:53am
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis had a huge 2013, despite releasing no new music. The duo's debut project, The Heist was released in 2012, but it made the majority of its impact throughout the following year, earning the two collaborators some Grammy nominations in the process. It seems that the rapper/producer team is finally through pushing their breakthrough project, as Mack announced via Instagram that he and Lewis are back in the studio together, captioning a photo of his creative partner with "Very happy to be back in the lab with this guy.... @ryanlewis".

We can't really argue about Macklemore's success over the past year at this point. As the rapper receives radio play around the world and continues to sell his 2012 release The Heist week after week, he's been dubbed 'Man of the Year' by The Source magazine. With the title comes a new cover with Macklemore on it. We've got an excerpt from the interview, in which Macklemore comments on competing with Kendrick Lamar in several categories for this year's Grammys.
Internet Phenoms: Flash In The Pan Or Here To Stay?
Internet Phenoms: Flash In The Pan Or Here To Stay? Feb 4, 2013 at 03:06pm
For hip-hop aficionados, out of all the glorious things it has done, the Internet has most importantly allowed the entire music industry to change. Instead of waiting for labels to promote the hottest new artist and go through painstaking processes to find them, Tweets, Facebook shares, YouTube videos allow every musician, big or small, to be heard. This has allowed rappers to rise rapidly to prominence on the back of a few songs showcasing their potential.

French Montana joins Charts Don't Lie this week, with his debut album Excuse My French. French, Diddy and the whole Bad Boy team went hard with promo for this one, rounded up the biggest features in the game, but the album wasn't able to move more than 50k opening week. With the decrease of hip-hop album sales forever waning, this isn't horrible, but it isn't the "classic" numbers French may have been expecting.
