Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Almost Banned From Rap Category At The Grammys
The Grammys finally go down this weekend, on Sunday January 27th, so there's plenty of Grammy discussion going down these past few days both rap-related and not. In the rap sphere, the competition is stiff, mainly divided between Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Jay Z. Of course, Kanye West and J. Cole, among other rappers, also received nods this year.
Method Man Calls Macklemore Out For Walking On Crowd, Claims He Invented It
Fans at the mtvU Woodie awards were impressed by a stage move Macklemore broke out the show, which found him performing an act similar to crowd surfing, but instead walking across the audience as they held him by his feet. It seems that Wu-Tang rapper Method Man was not impressed by the feat, mainly because he's been doing it himself for some time.

This week we saw Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience break another record, after first topping Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV in first week sales, it became the first record in 2013 to crack one million sales, going platinum just two weeks after it dropped. On the other end of the spectrum, we saw Weezy F's album, I Am Not A Human Being II, sell a strong 217k, but it did not really live up to his past LP sales.

Macklemore continues to pile up the accomplishments. Next up on his list is the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. The Seattle rapper took to his twitter a little while ago to reveal the cover. Alongside the picture, Mac wrote #Sharkfacegang. Coincidental that Shark Week just ended, but I do kind of see what he's saying there. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis had a huge 2013, despite releasing no new music. The duo's debut project, The Heist was released in 2012, but it made the majority of its impact throughout the following year, earning the two collaborators some Grammy nominations in the process. It seems that the rapper/producer team is finally through pushing their breakthrough project, as Mack announced via Instagram that he and Lewis are back in the studio together, captioning a photo of his creative partner with "Very happy to be back in the lab with this guy.... @ryanlewis".

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' massive hit "Thrift Shop" continues to spread like wildfire. Since going double platinum earlier this month, the song has now sold another million, achieving triple platinum status.The single off their debut album The Heist has currently sold a total of 3,101,000 copies.

French Montana joins Charts Don't Lie this week, with his debut album Excuse My French. French, Diddy and the whole Bad Boy team went hard with promo for this one, rounded up the biggest features in the game, but the album wasn't able to move more than 50k opening week. With the decrease of hip-hop album sales forever waning, this isn't horrible, but it isn't the "classic" numbers French may have been expecting.
