Eminem & Macklemore Among Winners At 2013 YouTube Music Awards
The first annual YouTube music awards aired tonight, and while the Spike Jonze-helmed production was far from smooth, it was certainly interesting. Eminem, who also performed at the event, took home the "Artist Of The Year" award, while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis beat out Kendrick Lamar for "YouTube Breakthrough". YouTube will be streaming its inaugural YouTube Music Awards ceremony live at 6 p.m. EST, with performances from Eminem, Tyler, the Creator and more. Relevant rap game nominees include Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. The award show, which is being hosted by Jason Schwartzman and Reggie Watts, features Spike Jonze as its creative director, and countdowns are currently taking place in Seoul, Moscow, Rio and London.

With Macklemore and Ryan Lewis being just about everywhere this year, and hitting platinum for "Thrift Shop" time and time again, it may come as no surprise that they're leading the AMA nominations. Today the annual AMA awards announced the nominees for each category. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis received six nods total, including ones for Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album.

This was a big week for the 11's. We see two new entries when it comes to hip-hop on Charts Don't Lie this week. They belong to Odd Future's Earl Sweatshirt and A$AP Mob's A$AP Ferg. While both rappers moved respectable amounts, it gives us a moment to think about the whole ideas of crews in hip-hop, and how no matter what, there is always one rap leader who has to make an impression on the audience first. For OF, this is Tyler, The Creator, for A$AP Mob it's Rocky. Following their rise in popularity, they try to put on their friends, as rappers tend to do-- sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.

We're not sure if we can still call Macklemore and Ryan Lewis underground anymore-- the duo have now not only gone 5x platinum with their lead single "Thrift Shop" but the album it's off, The Heist, has gone gold as well.

YelaWolf is not happy with Macklemore. This weekend, both rappers performed at the Osheaga Music Festival in Montreal, Canada. All was well until Yela was approached by a fan for a photo. The rapper obliged the fan, but took interest in the festival-goer's shirt. Catfish Billy, who has been pushing his deer logo for some time now, assumed that the shirt was one of his own, but it turned out to be a Macklemore tee, which also happened to use a deer as its logo.

French Montana joins Charts Don't Lie this week, with his debut album Excuse My French. French, Diddy and the whole Bad Boy team went hard with promo for this one, rounded up the biggest features in the game, but the album wasn't able to move more than 50k opening week. With the decrease of hip-hop album sales forever waning, this isn't horrible, but it isn't the "classic" numbers French may have been expecting.
