Macklemore drops a new single called "Kevin."

Macklemore's legion of haters quadrupled when The Heist beat out Kendrick Lamar's good kid m.A.A.d. city for Best Rap Album at the Grammys a couple years back. No one seemed to care that The Heist was actually a solid album, and when Macklemore & Ryan Lewis released a highly dubious single called "Downtown" in August, the haters' suspicions were confirmed. But even Macklemore's most zealous haters cannot deny that his new track, "Kevin," is not-terrible.

After debuting "Kevin" at the AMAs last night, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis shared the track for streaming via NPR this morning. He reflects on his young friend Kevin who overdosed on prescription medication and takes aim at the massive pharmaceuticals industry. Shades of "Otherside," one of the best tracks Macklemore ever put out.

Quotable Lyrics

Might as well go crack a pill, might as well go chug a bottle
Might as well go pop a pill and go and band-aid that problem
And escape this world, vacate this world
Cause I hate myself
No praying's gonna cure this pain
