Mýa has shared TKO (The Knock Out), her follow-up to 2016's Smoove Jones and eighth album overall. It arrives one day shy of the 20th anniversary of her debut self-titled project. The album is produced almost entirely by Lamar "MyGuyMars" Edwards of 1500 Or Nothin. It also features songwriting contributions from Kevin McCall and Marsha Ambrosius, as well as an interpolation of R. Kelly's "It Seems Like You're Ready." GoldLink appears on "Open," returning the favor after Mýa contributed a scene-stealing appearance on "Roll Call" from his At What Cost album in 2017. Like Smoove Jones, and all albums beginning with 2008's Sugar & Spice before it, the project is both executive-produced by Mýa and released through her independent label Planet 9. 6 singles from the project were released in advance, beginning with "Ready For Whatever" in September 2017.
