Smooth lyricist and producer Lushlife has recruited Killer Mike for a single on his upcoming Ritualize record, being put out on Western Vinyl.

The song is a chilled out, ethereal track, with Daft Punk-esque guitars hidden behind echoing layers of vocal samples and boom bap drums. The wordplay is as on point as you can expect from the two respected emcees, and the song finishes with a good minute of pure instrumentation as Lushlife does his (other) thing.

Guest Killer Mike has been in the news more for his political activism than rhyming recently, and it’s good to hear he’s still dedicated to the craft in 2016.

Pre-order Lushlife’s upcoming album on Bandcamp, which also includes features from Freeway, RJD2, and Deniro Farrar.

Quotable Lyrics

The pope's rainy day gentleman crook
the fast talking city slicker hit you better ya looks
I'm better with books instead of rocking elephant hooves
broken uptown the sound kid, irrelevant hooks
so when you peep the flow better watch where you stand
first five rows is cosmos, alive in the jam
man I'm sitting on a chrome horse developing plans
to keep sands of time filled, impressing the fans
