Lupe Fiasco has been causing quite a stir. First, he found himself embroiled in a Twitter-based lyrical tete-a-tete with battle rapper slash Spawn enthusiast Daylyt, which led to some hilarious bars from both sides. Next, he basically called out TDE over the artwork of Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "All The Stars," which he deemed a little to similar to his upcoming Drogas Wave. The accusation even earned Lupe a response from TDE president Dave Free, who told Lupe to "kick push his way into a tree." Afterward, Lupe claimed that Kendrick Lamar wasn't worthy of being a "top tier lyricist," which had a lot of k.dot fans firmly entrenched in their feelings.

Now, Lupe has once again taken to Twitter to make an announcement, only this time, it's of the musical variety. The rapper posted a brief, acapella freestyle called "Calm Dat," which he prefaced by saying "Get this back to my bro IT...just a first draft first take after listening to calm dat...could use a little refinement but I gave myself and hour time limit.." Clearly, Lupe has been on his King Los wave for a while now; in the aforementioned debate about top-tier lyricism, Lupe was quick to dub Los among the game's elite.

Check out the clip below, which features a still-sharp Lupe keeping lyricism alive. And while it would be nice to hear Lupe over a smooth instrumental, an acapella freestyle is still better than nothing. Stay tuned for the upcoming Drogas Wave, coming soon.
