The Outfit TX have long been pumping out innovative work out of Dallas, and the trio is finally starting to build a buzz far beyond its home state of Texas. Today, they team up with a newcomer on the Dallas scene, Loudiene, for a dark and ghoulish lean anthem titled "Dirty Soda."
Though the subject matter is a familiar one in Texas rap, the execution here is what's special, as each rapper is able to sound eerily possessed by the "Dirty Soda" and all of the illicit pleasures it inspires. Combined with the stripped-down, organ-driven production, coming from Freeband Hunter, it's a haunting track that's a nice change of pace from the Screw-inspired sounds that still seem to set the tone in Houston.
Loudiene is preparing to release his debut mixtape, Codeine & Crab Legs, in the near future, and The Outfit TX have a tape of their own on the way, entitled Green Lights: Everything Goin'. "Dirty Soda" would do well on either project.
