Lloyd couldn't conscionably return for another LP without paying respect to the folks that helped him reach these heights, some 15 years in the making. His outlined his goals for the new LP with Complex last month. "I wanted to put a lot of soul into it, you know?," he stated in a doubtful tone. "Kind of comparing music to food, I would say the goal was to stay as far away from fast food as possible and to focus on soul food."

On "Appreciation Day" starts his mission of gratitude right at the root: "I wanna say thank you to my mama and my daddy for making love the night that you had me." Lloyd's allusion to his parent's love nest might seem a little strange, but on some level it describes an enviable openness to experience & love, likely coming to fruition while his musical career was adjourned between 2011-2018. Goodie Mob legend Khujo Goodie even shows up with a spoken word message. Blessed are the meek, does it even up?

Quotable Lyrics:

My best friend Bonnie was sentenced to twenty
Until you have your freedom, I keep saving my money
Seems I’ve been getting older, from a two seater to a Rover
Needed more room for brandy, lil’ Henny and a stroller
Gotta live stronger since I went vegetarian
I hope I live longer, dying ain’t that scary.
