Lloyd Banks delighted fans when he released Halloween Havoc 3: Four Days of Fury earlier this week. One of the tape's most impactful tracks, "History" delves into Banks' disappointment with the music industry and the rappers who seem to have all the cache at the moment. "Niggas would rather run from the culture yet come for the easy payment," he raps with an Illmatic flow.

Produced by Chuck LaWayne, "History" samples A Tribe Called Quest's "Check the Rhime" before settling into a more somber beat that is a fitting match for Banks' eloquent and ultimately sad reflection on his career.

Quotable Lyrics

You no longer need what I'm bringin' that's what you're tellin' me
Turn your back on my wisdom for catchy melodies
Lemme guess theres a line of rappers ahead of me
Planted my hood flag in the ground where they can never be
Bunch of crabs in the barrel pile on the jealousy
Further I got away found me stepping down from celebrity
