New Jersey spitter/OVO producer Mike Zombie drops his first project in over a year: "Humble Genius."
Jersey's own Mike Zombie is best known as a member of OVO's production lineup, responsible for the beat of Drake's 2013 multi-platinum single "Started from the Bottom." Despite getting a few big credits since, he hasn't produced a hit that compares to "Started from the Bottom," but that's partly because he's been working hard to establish his career as an emcee, focusing his movement in South Jersey, Philly, and the surrounding areas. After sharing a few new tracks in the past couple of months, Zombie has now dropped a 14-track project entitled Humble Genius, his first since They Need to See This, released in January '15.
Before dropping Humble Genius, Zombie appeared on Ebro's Beats 1 show to premiere his new single, "Diamonds," and also to drop a new instrumental on which he shows off a futuristic flip of a Bell Biv DeVoe sample. He also participated in a short chat with Ebro, during which he talks about working with Drake and about the inspiration behind "Diamonds." Find the interview as well as an audio clip of the "Diamonds" premiere below.
